The 'AW' Model
|
The AW model is the basis for our family of sniper rifles.
It is currently produced in calibers 5.56 NATO (.223 Rem)
and 7.62x51 NATO (.308 Win) and normally fitted with a
660mm (26") match grade barrel for accurate long range
performance. The AW is essentially a 'green' role rifle
for use out to the supersonic maximum range of the
ammunition used. A range of 1,000m or more is possible
using dedicated special ammunition and calibrated sights.
The 7.62x51 variant of the AW is fitted with a muzzle brake which serves to reduce recoil and muzzle flip, cut down flash and provide a base for the foresight (supplied in the emergency iron sight set) and muzzle suppressor. The AW is normally supplied with an 8 round magazine (5.56) and 10 round magazine (7.62x51). Both versions are housed in green olive drab stock panels and black and green metalwork. Butt length can be adjusted by fitting spacers to suit the firer. Rifles are usually supplied as a complete kit which includes spacers for butt length adjustment, sight, mount, bipod, spare magazines, sling, iron sights, cleaning and tool kit - all in a fitted metal transit case. A soft carrying case, dust covers and specialist ammunition can also be a normal part of supply. AWs are normally fitted with the special fixed power 6x or 10x Mk II military sights in a one-piece mount which ensures the best user/rifle/sight relationship and reliable maintenance of zero if the sight is removed and replaced on the gun. The AW rifle is operational in more than 20 countries and has seen active service in most conflicts during the last 10 years. |
