Eugene Stoner's rotating bolt design is employed in the overwhelming majority of 5.56mm NATO combat rifles including HK's new G36, although the design has always exhibited one inherent shortcoming - a relatively weak extractor spring. Armforte's staff, who were involved in the design of the 5.56mm cartridge and who have been involved in the genesis of the AR-15/M-16 family of weapons since the 1960s, have developed a solution to the extraction problems that often plague weapons which incorporate this bolt design. Their D-Fender, a high-tech composite "D"-ring, increases extraction force fourfold and can be retrofitted to the bolt with no other modifications required. The D-Fender works with the following weapon systems:

  • AR-15/M-16
  • AR-18/AR-180
  • Dawoo 5.56/7.62x39
  • Steyr AUG/USR
  • HK G36/SL8
  • Bushmaster M-17 Bullpup
